Helena Wendell Lansing

Helena Wendell was born in October 1760. She was the daughter of Harmanus and Barbara Bradt Wendell. She grew up in a merchant's home in Albany's third ward.

In October 1780, she married a somewhat older Jeremiah Lansing. By 1800, the marriage had produced six children.

These Lansings lived in Albany - first on Market Street. They then settled on North Pearl Street, from where Jeremiah conducted his business, served his community, and was elected to the New York State Assembly.

Helena lost her husband in 1817. She lived on at their 80 North Pearl Street address for another decade. Helena Wendell Lansing died in October 1829 at the age of sixty-nine.
