Obed Weldon

by

In 1800, the household of one Obed Weldon was configured on the census of the first ward in the city of Albany. Counted in the house were a man and a woman between 26 and 45 years of age. Thus, this individual would have been born after 1755 and prior to 1774. We seek defining information on his origins and path to Albany. Slightly older Obed Weldons have been encountered in Pennsylvania (particularly in Philadelphia).

Also in 1800, an "Ovid Welden" paid $7 for a municipal grocer's license in Albany. After that, likely variants of his name have not been found in the community-based record.

Following an extensive sweep of Internet-based resources, we still have major unresolved questions and issues on the life of this short-term Albany resident. Past diminishing returns, we move on for now.
