Jannetje Winne Van Wie

by

Jannetje Winne was born in November 1740. She was middle daughter in the large family of Rensselaerswyck residents Benjamin and Rachel Van Arnhem Winne. She grew up in a large family in and around Albany.

In April 1766, she married Casparus Wan Wie at the Albany Dutch church. By 1780, five children reflecting traditional family names had been christened in Albany where she was only an occasional baptism sponsor. Three of her sisters married Albany residents.

This Van Wie family made its home north of Albany in Watervliet where the parents lived for almost fifty years.

Jannetje Winne Van Wie died in August 1815 at the age of seventy-five and was buried from the church. Casparus Van Wie passed three years later.
