Catharina Winne Wendell

by

Catharina Winne was born in March 1711. She was the daughter of Pieter and Maria De Foreest Winne. She was the eldest daughter in a large family that made its home beyond the Albany city limits.

In Octyober 1732, she married Albany native Robert Wendell at that Albany Dutch church. By 1753, seven children had been christened in Albany.

These Wendells also lived outside of Albany - perhaps on a farm east of the river and north of the city in the area that later would be known as Lansingburgh.

In January 1755, the wife of Robert Wendell was buried at the Flats. Elizabeth did not reach her forty-fifth birthday. Her husband probably lived for a decade or more longer.
