Anna Van Zandt Kidney

by

Anna Van Zandt was born in January 1765. She was a younger daughter in the large family of Johannes and Margarita Wilkinson Van Zandt. One of fifteen children, she grew up in a weaver's home in the first ward. In October 1791, Hanna Van Zandt was confirmed in St. Peter's Episcopal church.

By 1791, she had married her Albany neighbor, a somewhat older Jonathan Kidney. By 1800, the marriage had produced four children - at least three of whom were christened at the Albany Dutch church.

These Kidneys made their home on familiar ground on the Southside - on Hudson Street near South Pearl. There, Jonathan Kidney practiced the blacksmith's trade for many decades.

Anna Van Zandt Kidney died in December 1833. Her husband survived until 1849.
