Uldrick Van Vranken

by

Uldrick Van Vranken was born in March 1685. He was the third child born in the small family of Schenectady residents Gerrit C. and Ariaantie Uldricks Van Vranken. His father died and, in 1692, his mother re-married.

In August 1720, he was thirty-five when he married Geertie Cregier at the Albany Dutch church. By 1731, the marriage had produced four children.

This Van Vranken family settled in Albany's first ward and were community mainstays for more than three decades.

In 1721 and again in 1735, he served as firemaster. On a number of occasions, he was paid for work done for the city. In 1742, his name was included on a list of freeholders living in the first ward.

Uldrick Van Vranken died in January 1757 and was buried from the Albany church.
