by Stefan Bielinski Reuben Van Vechten was born during the 1690s. He probably was the son of Albany-area residents Cornelis Teunise and his second wife, Anna Leenderts Van Vechten. He married Geertruy Witbeck in 1718. Their eight children were baptized in the Albany Dutch church between 1719 and 1732. in 1715, he was listed as a private in the Albany County militia. In 1720, he was identified as a freeholder and resident of Albany's third ward where he kept a stable. Reuben Van Vechten's life was not a long one as he was buried from the Dutch church on March 5, 1735. His widow lived a decade longer. ![]() notes
