Pietertje Van Vechten Van Iveren

by

Pietertje Van Vechten was born about 1640. Traditional sources state that she was the daughter of New Netherland pioneer Teunis Dirckse - whose family would become known as Van Vechten.

In 1663, she became the second wife of Myndert Frederickse (Van Iveren). That marriage produced at least four sons and a daughter.

This family lived for several decades in what became the third ward where Myndert Frederickse traded for furs and practiced the blacksmith's trade.

In 1704, she was named in Myndert Frederickse's will as his wife, sole executrix, and mother of his five living children.

Pietertje Van Vechten Van Iveren probably died before 1710 or was living with one of her sons.
