Margarita Van Vechten Vandenbergh

by

Margarita Van Vechten was born in March 1706. She was the daughter of Volkert and Lydia Ten Broeck Van Vechten.

In July 1729, she married Gerrit C. Vandenbergh at the Albany Dutch church. By 1749 she had given birth to nine children who were christened at the Albany church where she was a member, pewholder, and regular baptism sponsor.

These Vandenberghs lived in Albany's third ward where Gerrit earned a living as a wagonner and served in a number of civic offices.

In 1747, she was named in the will of her father and slated to inherit a share of his Rensselaerswyck property. By the mid-1760s, Margarita and Gerrit had retired to a farm in Rensselaerswyck.

Margarita Van Vechten Vandenbergh witnessed a baptism with her husband in February 1780 and died sometime afterward.
