Alida Vandenbergh Bogert

by

Alida Vandenbergh was born in May 1750. She was the daughter of Wilhelmus and A[n]gietie Vandenbergh. We seek information on her parents and early life.

In 1775, she married Barent Bogert. By 1790, seven children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church where her husband was the church sexton.

These Bogerts lived in the second ward - perhaps near the intersection of Maiden Lane and Pearl Street. Barent Bogert also derived income from the leather trades and was a city retainer as well.

Alida Vandenbergh Bogert appears to have been accounted for in the household census records under the name of her husband thru 1810. However, Barent fathered another set of children - beginning in 1806. Their mother probably was younger than the fifty-six-year-old Alida!

We seek more defining information on her later life and passing.
