Mary Usher Lansing

by

Mary Usher was born in 1767. She was the daughter of the Reverend John Usher of Bristol, Rhode Island.

In June 1791, she married Albany native Myndert Lansing at the Albany Dutch church. By 1804, eight children had been christened in Albany.

This Lansing family made its home on South Market Street where Myndert earned a living as a coppersmith.

However, Myndert Lansing died in 1814 at the age of forty-six. Beginning in that year, the widow's home at 216 and then 617 South Market Street was listed in the annual city directory.

Mary Usher Lansing survived until March 7, 1845 when the "widow of Myndert Lansing" was buried at age seventy-eight.
