Geertruy Visscher Vanderheyden

Geertruy Visscher was born in March 1696. She was the daughter of Nanning H. and Alida Vinhagen Visscher. She grew up in the Pearl Street home of a trader and community mainstay.

In December 1725, Geertruy was twenty-nine when she married Albany native and trader David Vanderheyden at the Albany Dutch church. By 1740, seven children had been christened in the church where both parents were members, pewholders, and frequent baptism sponsors.

This Vanderheyden family lived near their kin in the second ward. They were Albany mainstays in a marriage that lasted more than forty-five years.

Geertruy Visscher Vanderheyden was named co-executor and the principal beneficiary in the will filed by her husband in February 1770.

Perhaps this individual was the "Geertruyd Van Derheyden" whose will passed probate in April 1791.
