Margarita T. Broeck Richard Lansing

by

Margarita Ten Broeck was born in October 1731. She was the youngest daughter in the large family of Albany leaders Dirck and Margarita Cuyler Ten Broeck. She grew up on Market Street as her father was named mayor of Albany in 1746.

By 1765, she had married Stephen Richard. Following his death, she married Albany native, merchant, and widower Gerardus Lansing at the Albany Dutch church in August 1778. It appears that no children issued from either marriage - although Gerardus brought his existing family to their Pearl Street home.

These Lansings were Albany mainstays for several decades

Margarita Ten Broeck Richard Lansing was accounted for on the census of 1800 - living alone with her husband and three servants in the second ward. Gerardus Lansing died in 1808.
