Lena Ten Eyck Lansing

by

Helena Ten Eyck Lansing was born in June 1787. Called "Lena," she was the third daughter of Abraham and Anna Lansing Ten Eyck. Lena grew up near the Albany waterfront in the large family of a mainline businessman and entrepreneur.

In March 1808, she married Gerrit Yates Lansing at the Albany Dutch church. Their marriage produced at least four children.

Married to an attorney and officeholder, Lena raised her family in prominent locations in the heart of the burgeoning State capitol.

Lena Ten Eyck Lansing died in June 1838. She had lived only fifty-one years. Her husband survived until 1862. A monument at Albany Rural Cemetery marks their passing.
