Jacob Teller

Jacob Teller was born in 1655. He was a younger son of New Netherland pioneers Willem and his first wife, Margaret Donchesen (Duncan) Teller. His parents were of Scottish origins and came to Beverwyck before Jacob was born.

Jacob grew up in a large family at his father's residences in Albany, Schenectady, and New York.

In October 1683, he married Christina Wessels at the New York Dutch church. By 1694, two children had been christened in New York. At the time of his marriage, he was called a young man from Albany.

In 1692, Jacob Teller was identified in the Albany city records as a trader who owned rum. However, he seems to have lived in New York.

In August 1696, he filed a will stating that he was sick but of perfect memory. It passed probate the following April. In September 1698, his widow filed her will. Jacob Teller was dead in his early forties!
