Hendrick B. Ten Eyck

by

Hendrick Ten Eyck was born in November 1747. He was the son in the small family of Barent H. and Lena Ryckman Ten Eyck. He grew up in a prominent merchant's home in the first ward. He was called "Hendrick B. Ten Eyck" to prevent confusion with his prominent uncle and a contemporary cousin.

In 1763, he appears to have witnessed the will of James Stevenson.

In June 1770, he married eighteen-year-old Catherine Sanders at the Albany Dutch church. Their son was born in July 1771. Catherine was dead before the baby was christened. The infant died almost immediately afterwards.

Early in 1766, Hendrick B. Ten Eyck added his name to a constitution for the Albany Sons of Liberty. Later that year, Henry B. Ten Eyck's Albany property, located next to that of his father and father-in-law, received a middling assessment.

We seek more information on the remainder of his life!
