Elizabeth Sanders

by

Elizabeth Sanders was born in December 1761. She was the youngest daughter of Albany leader Robert Sanders and his second wife, a much younger Elizabeth Schuyler Sanders.

Her mother died in 1763 and she was left an orphan at four when Robert Sanders passed just two years later. Although she would be well provided for under her father's substantial estate, she was left to the care of family members.   who raised her?

Elizabeth Sanders lived for twenty-five years. She died in April 1786 and was buried from the Albany Dutch church. Thus, she may have been living with the Schuylers or with her sister on Pearl Street rather than with the Schenectady branch of her family.
