Alexander Nash

by

External resources, tell us that Albany resident Alexander Nash was born in England or in New England about 1762. We seek more definitive information of his origins and path to Albany.

In 1790, a number of Nash-named households (none for Alexander) were configured on the census in Ballstown.

In 1800, the household of "Alexander Nash" was configured on the census for the second ward. At that time, it contained two boys and two girls ten and under, and a couple between 26 and 45. A year earlier, his house, lot, and personal property on Lyon Street were valued modestly.

After that, the name of Alexander Nash has not yet been encountered following our most recent sweeps of community and Internet based records.

However, in 1813, a widow Hannah Nash was listed in the Albany city directory at 111 Fox Street.

Finally for now, a "Mr. Alexander Nash" is said to have died in Gowanda on July 30, 1834 at the age of seventy-two.

the people of colonial Albany Sources: The life of Alexander Nash has no CAP biography number. This sketch is derived chiefly from family and community-based resources.

At this point, our sole external resource come from the Rootsweb posting from 1999 cited above. We have not yet connected him to English or New England origins.
