Dirckje Teunise Metselaer Visscher

by

Spelled and referred to variously, Dirckje Teunise was the wife of Albany brewer and businessman Bastian Harmense Visscher.

Family-based resources tell us that she was born about 1660 and that she was the daughter of New Netherland pioneers Teunis Teunise de Metselaer and one Egbertie Egbertsen.

In 1685, she was among the siblings named in the joint will filed by their parents.

Beginning in May 1684, the first of at least six children was christened in the Albany Dutch church. In 1697, their first ward home counted five children.

Dirckje Teunise Metselaer Visscher lost her husband in 1737. She is said to have been the "Dircktie Visscher" who was buried in the church yard in April 1739.

Past diminishing returns, we move on for now seeking definitive information on the demographic elements of her life.
