Margarita Lievers Van Vechten

by

Margarita Lievers probably was born about 1680. She may have been the daughter of Albany-area residents Harman and Maria [Egberts] Lieverse (Lievens). If so, her widowed mother was living in Albany in 1697.

In December 1703, she married Dirck Van Vechten at the Albany Dutch church. By 1720, seven children had been christened in Albany.

She raised her family in Schaghticoke where her husband was a farmer and sawmill operator.

She was named as a principal in the will filed by Dirck Cornelise in 1739. Margarita Lievers Van Vechten was alive in April 1748 when she was mentioned in the will filed by her son.
