Elizabeth Lansing Oothout

by

Elizabeth Lansing was born in November 1717. She was the daughter of Abraham and Magdalena Van Tricht Lansing. She grew up a middle child in a large family that made its home in the second ward. Both her parents died in 1745.

In March 1741, Elizabeth married Jonas Oothout at the Albany Dutch church. By 1753, five children had been christened in the church.

This Oothout family made its home in the Albany hinterland on the west bank of the Hudson to the north of Albany.

However, Elizabeth Lansing Oothout was dead by March 1754 when her husband re-married.

In 1780, her sons were referenced in the will filed by her brother. Some of her life is referenced on the leaf of her father's bible.
