by Stefan Bielinski Elizabeth Lansing was born in 1679. She was the daughter of Albany trader Jan Lansing and his wife, the widow Geertie van Schaick Coster. Daughter of one of Albany's leading citizens, she grew up with a large combined family in her father's home on Pearl Street. In July 1699, Elizabeth was twenty when she married middle-aged businessman Stephanus Groesbeck. By 1709, five of their children had been baptized at the Albany Dutch church where both parents were members and frequent baptism sponsors. Stephanus Grooesbeck died in 1744. Elizabeth was named co-executor of his estate, provided a monetary allotment, and left use of all of his property.
