Margarita Jones Hilton

by

This woman known variously as Margarita Jones was the wife of the Albany native known as William Hilton, Jr. We seek defining information on her origins and path to Albany.

In October 1736, she married "Will. Hilten" at the Albany Dutch church. A year later, the first of five children was christened there as well. Her last child there was born late in 1747.

These Hiltons made their home in the first ward where William was known as a carpenter, contractor, and the holder of service positions in the municipal government.

Margarita Jones Hilton may have been dead by April 1753, when her husband may have remarried. He christened another son at St. Peter's, his church, in 1758.
