Elizabeth Hallenbeck Evertsenby
Elizabeth Hallenbeck was born during the 1680s. She was the daughter of Jan Casperse and Rachel Willems. Her grandfather was a pioneer settler of Beverwyck. She probably grew up in the greater Albany countryside. In 1705, she married Jacob Evertse on the "3rd Sunday after Pinkster" at the Lutheran church in Loonenburgh. By 1724, six children had been christened in the Lutheran and Dutch Reformed churches. These Evertsens lived in the third ward where Jacob was an Albany mainstay until his death early in 1755. Elizabeth Hallenbeck Evertsen was last heard from definitively in December 1728 when she witnessed a baptism in the Lutheran church. We do not know if she survived Jacob Evertsen's death or if she was the "Widow Evars" listed on the Albany census in 1756.
