Ann Hilton Pennel

by

Ann Hilton was the wife of Albany resident Jeremiah Pennel. She probably was born just after mid-century and may be a member of the Albany Hilton family. However, the existence of several same-named contemporaries dictates caution in the assignment of qualitative information.

In January 1784, she married "Jeremia Pennel" at the Albany Dutch church. In August 1788, their daughter Ruth was christened in both the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches. Census enumerations tell us that their family included a number of children.

By 1790, these Pennels had made their home nearby several Hilton families on the Southside of Albany.

Jeremiah Pennel was buried from the Dutch church in August 1805. Ann Hilton was dead by September 11, 1807 when letters of administration were issued on the estate of "Hannah Pannel."

With basic and unanswered questions on the life of this Albany wife and mother, we move on for now.
