Jane Gilliland Bleecker

Jane Gilliland was born during the early 1760s. She was the daughter of Ulster-born soldier-turned-merchant William Gilliland and his wife, Elizabeth Phagen of New York. During the 1760s, Gilliland moved his family from Manhattan to Albany and then to the Champlain Valley where he established a town he called Willsboro.

In October 1786, she married Albany native John Bleecker at the Albany Presbyterian church. By 1791, three daughters had been christened at the Dutch church in Albany.

These Bleeckers lived with or near other family members in the second ward.

Accounted for on the census of 1790, Jane Gilliland Bleecker died sometime after the birth of her last child. Her husband re-married in 1799 and contrinued to live on North Pearl Street until his death in 1833.
