Flensburghby
Spelled variously, the Flensburgh family of early Albany traces it's path back to Johannes Flensburgh (perhaps a Dane) who came from Germany to New York in the 1670s. His sons would have been Daniel and Matthew who became Albany residents and were listed as Albany freeholders in 1720. The holdings of carpenter William Flansbury were the only reference to the family included on the Albany census in 1756. In 1790, no Flensburgh-named households were included on the Albany city census. However, four Flensburgh families were configured in surrounding Watervliet.
