Elizabeth De Wandelaer Van Vechten

Elizabeth De Wandelaer was born in Dcember 1753. she was the daughter of Pieter and Anna Bogardus De Wandelaer.

In 1776, she married Teunis T. Van Vechten. By 1788, the marriage had produced five children who were christened at the Albany Dutch church.

These Van Vechtens lived on Market Street in a small house that was an Albany landmark for many years. Her husband was a prominent merchant and community leader.

Elizabeth lost her husband in 1817. She lived on with her son and his family in their 333 Market Street home while being identified as the head of her household on the census in 1820.

Elizabeth De Wandelaer Van Vechten died in December 1831 at the age of seventy-eight, She was buried in the Dutch church plot of the Washington Park cemetery.
