by Stefan Bielinski Anna De Vries La Grange was born during the middle of the seventeenth century. Traditional sources state that she was the daughter of Jan De Vries (Freese). She was the wife of Albany patriarch Omie La Grange and the mother of his large family. These La Granges were prominent residents of Albany and kept a farm on the Normanskill as well. During that time, she witnessed a number of baptisms at the Albany Lutheran church. Omie La Grange died in 1731 at the age of 106!. On her way to visit a daughter in Raritan, New Jersey, Anna De Vries La Grange died in New York City in June 1734. Her obituary stated that she was eighty-six years old. notes
