Johannes Cuyler

by

Johannes Cuyler was born in January 1729 and baptized at the Albany Dutch church. He was an older son of Albany leader Cornelis Cuyler and his wife Catharina Schuyler Cuyler.

He grew up in a large family in Albany's second ward.

Unlike his parents who lived into their eighties and a number of well-known and long-lived siblings, Johannes's life was neither long nor eventful. His father's family bible recorded that on September 29, 1749, Johannes died at age twenty years and seven months following a week-long illness. This Johannes Cuyler was buried at the Dutch church in New York on the following day.
