by Stefan Bielinski Maria Beekman was born in 1692. She was the daughter of Albany blacksmith Johannes Beekman and his second wife, Eva Vinhagen Beekman. In 1728, she was identified as an heir in the will of her father. In 1714, Maria married Albany businessman Jurrian Hogan. By 1740, nine of their children had been baptized in the Albany Dutch church where she was a frequent baptism sponsor! These Hogans lived on Pearl Street and were second ward mainstays for many years. In 1764, she filed a joint will with her husband. She probably died in Spetember 1765 when her heirs paid for her pall! notes
