Dirkje Barheit Van Woertby
Dirkje Barheit was born in Rensselaerswyck probably during the 1680s. She was the daughter of southern Albany County farmers Andries and Geertje Teunis Barheit. In November 1707, Dirkje was living in Albany when she married Claas Van Woert at the Albany Dutch Church. By 1724, seven children had been christened at the church. This Van Woert family made its home in Albany's first ward until at least the mid-1720s. Their presence left only a slight impression on the community record. The name of Dirkje Barheit Van Woert was not off of Albany rolls following the birth of her last child in March 1724. She and Nicholas continued to witness baptisms up to 1748 when she would have been in her sixties.
