Catharina Burhans Lansing

by

Catharina Burhans probably was born in December 1737. She was the daughter of Johannes and Sara Osterhout Burhans of Saugerties. Two decades later, her family had settled in the Albany hinterland.

In July 1755, she married Petrus Van Wormer of Albany County in Catsbaan (Catskill). The marriage produced two sons in 1756 and 1758 - after which Van Wormer presumably died. In October 1761, Catharina married Albany resident John 5 Lansing at the Albany Dutch church. By 1783, that marriage had produced nine children.

Catharina Burhans Lansing died in October 1799 at the age of sixty-one. Her son paid for her burial in the Dutch church cemetery.
