Bloomendal (Maas)

by

Hopefully, only one early Albany family group is encompassed by the names Bloomendal and Maas. Some members of the Van Buren family - descendants of Maas Cornelise Van Buren - in particular could/should be included here as well.

His sons, Jacob and Jan Maas Bloomendal were eighteenth century mainstays. The will of bachelor brother and fellow brazier Cornelis Maase was filed in 1761 and identified many family members.

In 1788 and 1790, the names of three family members appeared on a citywide assessment roll.

By 1815, only the name of "Jacob Bloomendale" at 46 Husdon Street appeared in the city directory.

the people of colonial Albany Sources: This discussion of the Bloomendal (Maas) family is derived chiefly from family and community-based resources. A partial reconstitution for the family was performed in 1990. It identified thirty-nine individuals meeting the inclusion criteria.
