Margarita Wilkinson was born in February 1736. She was the daughter of Thomas Wilkinson and his wife, Elizabeth Codman Wilkinson.

In August 1754, she married Johannes Van Zandt, Jr. at the Albany Dutch church. By 1778, fourteen of their fifteen children had been baptized at the Albany Dutch church where she was a member and pewholder.

These Van Zandts lived in Albany's first ward (probably on Hudson Street) where Johannes was known as a weaver for more than four decades.

Margarita Wilkinson Van Zandt was probably alive and included in their first ward household as it was configured on the census of 1790. That household did not appear on the census of 1800 or afterwards.
