Catharina Waldron Van Wie

by

Catharina Waldron was born in October 1711. She was the daughter of Pieter and Catharina Vandenbergh Waldron. She grew up in a large family in the Albany home of a pair of transplanted New Yorkers. Following the death of her father in 1725, her mother raised their family in their third ward house.

In October 1732, she married Hendrick Van Wie, Jr. at the Albany Dutch church. By 1754, eleven children had been christened in Albany where she was a member and pewholder.

These Van Wies raised their family in the West Manor, along the river to the south of Albany near a number of Van Wie family farms.

Catharina Waldron Van Wie was last noted in the community record when, like her husband, she was deposed in June 1765 in a probate case regarding the will of Joachim Staats who died in 1712.
