Rebecca Vanderheyden Bradt
by
Stefan Bielinski

Rebecca Vanderheyden was born in October 1695. She was the daughter of Ariaantie Vanderheyden. Although no father was listed in the Dutch church baptism record, court records indicate that Lieutenant Simeon Young was her father.

In July 1715, Rebecca became the wife of Anthony A. Bradt - an Albany building contractor. By 1737, eight children had been baptized at the Dutch church where she was a frequent godparent.

These Bradts were prominent residents of the third ward until the death of Anthony in 1760. Rebecca Bradt and her son were listed on the Albany assessment roll in 1767. She died sometime afterwards.
