Catharina Van Eslant Van Deusen

Catharina Van Eslant probably was born in September 1645. She was the daughter of New Netherland pioneers Claes and Willemptie Vanderlinden Van Eslant.

In September 1663, she married Jacob Abrahamse Van Deusen in New Amsterdam. By 1678, their nine children had been christened at the Dutch churches in New York and Albany. She was a member of the Albany church and a regular baptism sponsor.

During the 1670s, they set up their home in Albany where Van Deusen owned and purchased property. These Van Deusens were Albany mainstays for several decades.

Abraham Jacobse died during the early 1690s. In 1694, she was called "widow" and was named administrator of the estate of John Cok who formerly lodged at her Albany home. By 1697, Catharina Van Eslant Van Deusen was acknowledged as the head of her Albany home. She died somtime thereafter.
