Catharina Van Dam probably was born during the 1660s. She probably was the daughter of Albany residents Claes Ripse and Maria Bords Van Dam. Her brother was New York notable Rip Van Dam.

In November 1688, she became the second wife of Albany-area businessman Hendrick Van Ness. By 1692, the marriage had produced four children. In 1697, their blended family encompassed seven children and was configured on the census of householders living in Rensselaerswyck.

We seek information on the later life and fate of Catharina Van Dam Van Ness. Her husband probably was dead by 1720.
