Elizabeth Sanders Wendell

Elizabeth Sanders was born in 1666. She was the daughter of Robert and Elsie Van Kleeck Sanders. She was an older child in the large family of prosperous Albany newcomers.

In 1681, she married Albany trader Evert Wendell, Jr.. She gave birth to ten children before Wendell died in 1702. She was named his "sole and universal heir" in Wendell's will. In 1709, she still maintained title to Wendell's substantial Albany house. In 1706, she married widower Frederick H. Visscher. She was a member of the Albany Dutch church and an occasional baptism sponsor.

As the wife of a prominent Albany merchant, this well-endowed widow lived in relative comfort on their second ward property. Elizabeth Sanders Wendell Visscher died in 1739. Frederick Harmanse died sometime after!
