Helena Ryckman was born in September 1723. She was the daughter of Tobias and Helena Beekman Ryckman. She grew up at the family brewery located along the Albany waterfront.

In April 1745, she married Barent H. Ten Eyck. By 1747, the marriage had produced two children who were christened at the Albany Dutch church where she was a pewholder and occasional baptism sponsor.

For a time, these Ten Eycks lived in the house she inherited from her father - the business partner of her husband. By 1779, Ten Eyck was identified as the owner of the Southside property. By 1790, they had re-located to Market Street where Lena was accounted for on the census in Barent Ten Eyck's household. Barent H. Ten Eyck died in 1792. Helena Ryckman Ten Eyck probably died sometime thereafter.
