Geertruy Quackenbush Groesbeck

by

Geertruy Quackenbush probably was born during the late 1670s. She was the daughter of Albany/Rensselaerswyck residents Wouter Pieters and Neeltie Vandenbergh Quackenbush. She grew up along the river on the flats north of what became the city of Albany.

In December 1699, she married Johannes Claese Groesbeck at the Albany Dutch church. By 1720, nine children had been christened at the Albany church where she was a member since 1694.

These Groesbecks made their home near other Groesbeck families in Albany's second ward. Johannes Claese was a trader and merchant who may have died in 1746.

Geertruy Quackenbush Groesbeck died in March 1747 and was buried from the church.
