Catharina Lansing Doxby
Catharina Lansing was born in October 1742. She was the daughter of Gerrit Lansing, Jr. and his second wife, the former Wyntie Vandenbergh (who was a widow as well). She grew up a part of a large combined family in a woodworker's home in the third ward. About 1779, she married Albany native Peter Dox. By 1790, six children had been christened at the Albany Dutch church. Peter Dox was a skipper and merchant whose home was in the North End of Albany. Her older sister married and lived nearby. By 1813, the name of Peter Dox (Sr.) no longer appeared on Albany rolls. Peter Dox died November 1831. At that time, he was living with his son Abraham in Hopeton, Yates County. We seek defining information Cathalina's later life and passing.
