Naomi Hall Radcliff

by

Naomi Hall was born about 1765. Perhaps, she was a daughter of the Hall family of colonial Schenectady.

In February 1786, she married the much older Albany native Philip Redley at the Albany Dutch church. By 1794, the marriage had produced four children. Dutch church record-keepers had some difficulty writing her first name as she was identified as "Newman" and "Nancy" among others.

These Radleys lived in the first ward and were Beaver Street mainstays for several decades.

Philip Radley was dead by the time the city directory was issued for 1815 leaving Naomi a widow before her fiftieth birthday. The "widow of Philip Radcliff" was then identified as the head of the Radcliff household at 68 Beaver Street. As late as 1830, the widow was still listed in the city directory.

Naomi Hall Radcliff died at the home of her daughter Hannah in July 1855. She had lived ninety years. Her will passed probate at the end of the year.
