Maragrita Groesbeck Marselis

by

Maragrita Groesbeck was born in January 1740. She was the daughter of Gerardus and Maria Ten Broeck Groesbeck. She grew up as the eldest daughter of a large family in a merchant's home on Pearl Street.

In August 1766, she married Albany native Nicholas Marselis at the Albany Dutch church. By 1785, eight children had been christened in Albany where she was a member and pewholder.

This Marselis family also lived modestly in the second ward but, by 1790, had moved out to Rensselaerville in the Heldeberghs.

We seek information on the later life and passing of Margarita Groesbeck Marselis.
