Elizabeth Goewy Evertsen

by

Elizabeth Goewy (Goewey) was born in January 1760. She was a younger daughter in the large family of Benjamin and Catharina Vandenbergh Goewy. Her parents lived on the West Manor.

In July 1779, she was under twenty when she married thirty-year-old Evert Evertsen at the Albany Dutch church. By 1801, the marriage had produced eight children who were christened at the Albany Dutch church.

These Evertsens lived in Albany's North End where Evert was a cooper until his death in July 1823.

Widow Elizabeth Goewy Evertsen lived in their house at 156 North Market Street at least until 1830. Her will passed probate in February 1848.
