Sara De Foreest Hansen

by

Sara De Foreest was born in January 1678. She was the first child born to the marriage of Philip and Catharina Kip De Foreest of New York City. These Albany newcomers set up their home on the hill where they raised a large family of eleven children born by 1702.

In March 1702, Domine Johannes Lydius sanctioned the marriage of Sara and Johannes Hansen at her father's Albany house. By 1729, the union may have produced many children. She was a member of the Albany Dutch church and a frequent baptism sponsor.

These Hansens raised their family in a moderately valuable house in the second ward.

Sara De Foreest Hansen died in September 1746 and was buried from her church. Her husband passed two years later.
