Maria Bradt was born about 1660. She was the daughter of Albany residents Barent Albertse and Susanna Dircks Bradt. She grew up at the family farm along the Normanskill and in her father's North end home just outside the Albany stockade.

About 1680, she became the wife of Egbert Teunise (de Metselaer). By 1691, seven of her children had been baptized at the Albany Dutch church where she was a member.

Her new family lived in the third ward where they were Albany mainstays.

In December 1704, she was identified as a living heir in her husband's will. In 1709, she was noted as the owner and head of a substantial third ward property and of a house. Those were the last mentions of Maria Bradt Teunise (or Egberts) uncovered so far in the community record.
