Elizabeth Bradt Brooks

by

Elizabeth Bradt was born in February 1742. She was the daughter of Albany-area residents Anthony and Christina La Grange Bradt. We seek more specific information on her childhood.

In January 1767, she married Albany native Jonathan Brooks at St. Peter's Anglican church. By 1779, at least two children had been christened in Albany.

By the end of the War for Independence, the couple had made their home above South Pearl Street along what became Plain Street. Jonathan Brooks was a carpenter and also performed services for the city government. In 1790, their first ward household included ten members.

Elizabeth Bradt Brooks lost her husband in 1829. Brooks had lived in the same house his entire life. Widow Elizabeth died in July 1832 at the age of ninety-two.
