Anna Beekman Schermerhorn

by

Anna Beekman was born in December 1696 and christened at the Dutch church in New York City. She was the daughter of Martin and Neeltie Slingerland Beekman. Perhaps she grew up in a blacksmith's home in New York.

In May 1718, Anna married Jacob Schermerhorn at the Albany Dutch church. By 1740, at least nine children had been christened in Albany and at Dutch churches elsewhere in the Hudson Valley.

These Schermerhorns first made their home in Albany's second ward. However, by 1732, Schermerhorn had relocated his family to Livingston Manor.

Anna Beekman Schermerhorn was not mentioned in the will her husband filed in November 1760 and thus is presumed to have died before the filing.
